I have recently migrated to Android, but last I was using my iPhone 3GS without much issues on Fedora 14. F15 another story :D I think it was the idevices libs that were the culprit.

As for the iPod Touch, I have no idea, although I would presume you should be okay comparing similar generations of devices to each other.

I wish them the best of luck getting these bugs hammered out, but I will be recommending OpenSUSE or Fedora to anyone that is looking to migrate off of Windows or MacOS to a good GNU/Linux offering.

Give me a shout if you need any help with either Red Hat or SUSE products. I find that the logic in the way they have tailored the system is great for doing any commercial (free too, but the point is on commercial) support. Things are just easier to diagnose and thus fix. And if its something that needs to be catalogged, cool, Ill do it here :D I would like a no-ad place for people to check out info on Linux.

Apart from poor sound I have to install with noapic or else it freezes at 73% while updating packets. Debug is something they should finish long before a release. I believe too many crap people have infiltrated ubuntu. if your boot splash works, my bet wod be to either reinstall the theme (erase it and reinstall it via yum) or just reset it.

I will see if I can replicate this, but the only oddities I have found were in getting the themes to properly apply. I am guessing that the fedora guys changed somethibg over the last release or two woth regards to plymouth.

First of all the only mode that seem to work for me are

vga=794 (1280x1024)

whit the nouveau driver my resolution was much better not sure exactly what it was but im guessing it 1920x1080 my native screen res.

also i dont get the plymouth splash on shutdown?
